True Characteristics of a Leader

  1. Encourage, empower, and inspire others to succeed and thrive to their fullest potential.
  2. Recognize and acknowledge the gifts and talents of all people.
  3. Build capacity for growth and create meaningful opportunities for everyone to share their passion.
  4. Are culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of all people, including their constituents.
  5. Are authentic, transparent, approachable and are nice!
  6. Are not gossipers and are quick to disanul the formation of cliques in order to prevent strife and disunity.
  7. Are quick to forgive.
  8. Have good moral conduct, character and integrity.
  9. Seek to provide inclusion in the decision-making processes.
  10. Support, follow and demonstrate the vision and mission of their organization.
  11. Are not afraid, jealous, intimidated, insecure or threatened by the success of their followers because as leaders, they know who they are, their worth, value, and understand their God given purpose and their WHY. Leaders produce Leaders!
  12. Give and receive corrective feedback in love.
  13. They build trusting relationships with everyone.
  14. They are effective communicators.
  15. THEY DO NOT ABUSE THEIR AUTHORITY.
  16. They are excellent team builders.
  17. They are not perfect. When they make a mistake, they acknowledge the mistake, seek forgiveness, find a solution to fix the problem and move on.
